Conservatory Designs That Are Unique To You

For your conservatory design, you may select from a selection of fantastic colours. We provide a variety of colours for our roofing systems, including grey and white, to ensure that they completely complement your property. Additionally, you may choose from a variety of woodgrain finishes for your double glazed frames to completely complement your London property.

Lean-To Conservatory

The lean-to conservatory is a streamlined form that maximises available space and is particularly well-suited to tiny houses or cottages. Modern lean-to conservatories compliment both contemporary and traditional architecture, emulating a Mediterranean style that evolved from a desire to absorb as much light as possible. This incredible building is pleasingly simple, which makes it easy to customise for modern households. Inspired by this architectural era, the gable features a square or rectangular form that maximises available space. Advice

The Best Advice for Selecting a Conservatory

There is no way around the reality that selecting a conservatory from some firms may be a tough and intimidating undertaking. However, this does not have to be the case. We’re here to assist you in getting it right. We’ve gathered the following professional advice from interior designers, architects, and well-known gardeners.

1. Consider what you are going to use it for.

How do you want to use your newly constructed conservatory?

In a children’s room? In Is there an eating area? A place for business? Whichever response you provide, the daily use of your conservatory should help you establish how large it should be and which style will work best.

2. Make wise material choices.

Using PVC-U to construct your conservatory ensures years of trouble-free maintenance and is a more cost-effective option than timber-framed conservatories.

3. Consider the situation

Consider the outside of your conservatory. Conservatories facing south receive the greatest sunlight, necessitating the installation of suitable ventilation and shades. Additionally, you may wish to consider installing performance glass on the roof.

4. Size does not always imply superiority.

Once you’ve chosen the style and size of your new conservatory, double-check that it complements your house and does not consume the entirety of your yard. Consider it an extension of your house rather than an add-on.

5. Think about your glazing options.

Consider the sort of glazing you want to utilise. Solar heat will pass through ordinary glass and polycarbonate into your conservatory, elevating the interior temperature on hot summer days. Whether you want a north-facing conservatory that retains heat or a south-facing conservatory that retains heat, we have a performance glass that will meet your demands.

6. Ventilation

Assure that your conservatory has appropriate ventilation so that you can enjoy it even on the hottest days.

Our roof vent allows fresh air to enter while keeping out the weather. Additionally, you may consider installing roof fans or an air conditioning unit.

7. Speak with your city council.

In most cases, you will not require planning permission to install a conservatory in England or Wales, but in Scotland, it can vary. Nevertheless, it is always preferable to be safe rather than sorry. If in doubt, always contact your local government as soon as possible.

Advice

Why Purchase A Conservatory?

Take Advantage of Your Space

It provides a new way to enjoy your home and yard - depending on your interests, a conservatory may be utilised to relax, entertain, or even pursue a new hobby.

Increase Your Property Value

Conservatories are a very desirable home feature, making them ideal for anybody looking to sell and are considered a sound long-term investment for your property.

Take pleasure in Nature

A conservatory may enliven a place by bringing in natural light and providing breathtaking views, which is one of the conservatory's enduring benefits.

The Process

Permission For Conservatory Planning In Scotland

If you wish to extend your Scottish home with a conservatory or orangery or to add a porch to your house, planning approval may be required first.

Never proceed with these kinds of installations without first confirming whether planning permission is necessary since this might prove to be a very costly error.

If it is discovered that an installation violates planning rules, your local authorities may require you to make adequate alterations to bring the installation into compliance with applicable standards and file a retroactive planning application. Some may not be so fortunate and are instructed to destroy the structure and restore the region to its pre-demolition state.

Developments That Are Permitted

When an installation is covered by Permitted Development Rights, no planning application is required. This is sufficiently lengthy to comply with construction requirements, and no Article 4 directive terminating permissible development rights has been applied.

Permitted Development Rights apply to a single-story addition (conservatory, orangery) as long as the following conditions are met:

  • It is positioned at the rear of the house; it extends no farther than 3 metres if the house is terraced, or 4 metres if it is not; and the height of the eaves (where the wall meets the roof) is no more than 3 metres.
  • It does not exceed 4 metres in height, including sloping roofs.
  • It does not exceed the floor space of your house; it does not occupy more than half of the ‘curtilage’ – the grounds behind your property; and it is not located within a conservation area.

A porch is a permitted development as long as the following conditions are met:

  • Its footprint (the overall floor area it occupies) should not exceed 3 square metres.
  • There is a minimum of two metres between the border of the porch and any border facing a road; the porch is no taller than three metres, and the porch is not located inside a conservation area.

We would always recommend, however, that you consult with your local planning authority to ensure that you are safe to proceed with the installation in case further clearance is required.

If it is determined that a planning application is required, the fee is present £202. Once received, the local authorities will publicize and notify your neighbours about your plans, and it will take approximately two months for you to be notified whether or not planning permission is granted. You do have the right to appeal if you believe your planning application was denied in an unjustifiable manner.
